Green Around Downtown: Community Planting Day 2010

Lower Manhattan residents will plant more than 300 annuals in Wall Street Park as part of the Alliance for Downtown New York's Spring Community Planting Day.

The third annual event is part of the Downtown Alliance's Going Green Downtown initiative, which is dedicated to building an environmentally sustainable Lower Manhattan. Participants will have the opportunity to clean, raise and improve the existing soil in planting areas and to plant annuals throughout the park. Planting tools and onsite instruction will be provided, as will cedar, mulch, compost and the flowers.

Additionally, the Downtown Alliance and Community Board 1 will provide a dedicated space for children to plant seeds in individual pots to take home. Light refreshments will be served.
