Cities Respond to Climate Change: Locating Leadership in an Uncertain World
Event Date: 04/12/2010
6:00pm - 8:00pm As North American cities come to grips with the unclear impacts of global warming and the current economic crisis, leadership for meaningful long-term change is not easy to find. Can government take charge of the response to climate change, despite intensifying political and economic constraints? For business, is the profit motive all that's required to drive a substantial and concrete response? Or is true urban sustainability a question not only of good business practices but alluring incentives, strong government regulation, and innovation driven by philanthropy and the nonprofit sector? Either way, how do we get there from here? Keynote by: Stephen B. Heintz, President, Rockefeller Brothers Fund Presented By: Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy and the Center for New York City Affairs Sponsored by: Con Ed, the Sirus Fund and the Milano Foundation. Location: Theresa Lang Community and Student Center, Arnhold Hall, 55 West 13th Street, 2nd floor Admission: is free but you must RSVP.
