Ashokan Hike: A Hike through Nature and History

11:00am - 2:30pm Please join Aaron Bennet, naturalist and Catskills native, as he leads a hike through the Acorn Hill forest adjacent to the Ashokan reservoir. The Ashokan is the second largest of New York City's reservoirs holding 122 billion gallons of water. Along the trail Mr. Bennet, former Education Director for the Catskill Center, will discuss many interesting aspects of the Ashokan including how the topography of the region helps keep the water pure and why the original engineers chose this site. The hike will last 3.5 hours and will be on moderately hilly terrain. Participants should bring their lunch and there will be a stop midway through the hike to eat. Where: Ashokan Reservoir, Olivebridge, New York Transportation from New York City will be provided.
