As a member of the Monroe County Legislature since 2004, Ted O'Brien has played a critical role in environmental policy and advocacy.  O'Brien's bid for the 55^th Senate seat will put him in a position to help further NYLCV's environmental goals.

O'Brien sponsored the "Renewable Energy Purchasing" proposal that would empower Monroe County to purchase 25% of its energy from non-polluting, renewable energy sources.  Additionally, he authored a proposal to convert Monroe's Request for Proposals system to an electronic system in an effort to save paper and ink.  O'Brien's commitment to protecting New York's environmental makes him an ideal candidate for the 55^th district.
