 As Mayor of the city of Cohoes and the chairman of Cohoes Charter Revision Committee, John McDonald has been a strong influence for the implementation of environmental changes in this community. McDonald has championed projects including: the renewal of trash and recycling programs which saved taxpayers over $100K/yr and reduced landfill tonnage by 15% year and energy conservation projects, which applied two year paybacks and a reduction in energy usage by 20%.

McDonald has shown through numerous environmental actions that he will indeed fight for our initiatives. He has been a proponent of the Albany Pool CSO project, as well as the improvement of the Cohoes Falls Park development.  Additionally McDonald oversaw the construction of a multi-trail system throughout the City of Cohoes as well as the Lancaster Street Storm Separation Project and the Vliet Street Water & Sewer Projects. McDonald has consistently proved to be a strong supporter of the environment.
