NYLCV President Julie Tighe Reacts to Mta’s Go-Live Date for Congestion Pricing

“With a go-live date now on the books for congestion pricing in New York City, we are on the cusp of being the first city in the nation to implement this critical climate policy. On day one – June 30th – congestion pricing will begin to reduce planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions and curtail the filthy air pollution that is choking our lungs and fueling an asthma epidemic. We cannot drive our way out of the climate crisis, and congestion pricing will provide critical funding to upgrade our mass transit system, benefiting the millions of daily commuters across the region and encouraging countless more to ditch their gas-guzzling cars. We applaud Governor Hochul and the MTA for standing firm on this policy and we thank all the policymakers and advocates who fought alongside us for over a decade to bring this groundbreaking measure to New York City.”
