The dust is still settling on the 2012 state legislative session, which officially ended on Thursday.

Unfortunately, lawmakers and Gov. Cuomo could not reach consensus on many environmental issues.Unfortunately, lawmakers and Gov. Cuomo could not reach consensus on many environmental issues. But one thing is clear: Albany let us down on promises to build a clean-energy future.

One of NYLCV's top priorities of the year -- the establishment of a long-term solar energy program -- ended up on the cutting room floor.

Throughout the session, NYLCV and our partners fought for legislation that would have helped establish New York as a solar-energy leader by dramatically increasing the amount of solar capacity installed in the Empire State.

But neither house acted on proposed legislation. The real shame is that both the Assembly and Senate -- and Gov. Andrew Cuomo -- could not forge consensus and get the job done.

In a couple of weeks, NYLCV will release our 2012 Legislative Progress Report, which will analyze the Legislature's progress on these and other environmental bills in Albany.
