You wouldn't be surprised to see an environmental organization doing public outreach at a farmers' market. But how about at a business trade show?

Hundreds of people stopped by our booth to find out about our organization and learn how they can make a difference in their community.

Why was it important for NYLCV to be there? Because of the critical role that the business community and partnerships play in making New York more sustainable.

In fact, many of NYLCV's top legislative priorities also create economic opportunities for New York entrepreneurs -- from boosting locally owned solar-panel installation companies to developing new technologies to improve water quality in a cost-efficient way.

In the coming weeks, NYLCV will unveil our Blueprint for a Greener Long Island, which will help guide county, town and city officials in Nassau and Suffolk in their efforts to make their areas more sustainable. Our recommendations will not only be good for the environment -- they will also help lay the foundation for a more sustainable economy, too.
