Next Steps For The Environmental Protection FundSubmitted by Dan Hendrick on Thu, 2012-01-26 17:03.
Even though Gov. Andrew Cuomo has recommended funding the Environmental Protection Fund at last year's level, we're not out of the woods just yet.
To make sure the EPF is as strong as it can be, NYLCV has been meeting with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and in both houses of the Legislature to make sure everyone knows what's at stake. The Environmental Protection Fund is one of the centerpieces of New York's environmental efforts. It supports everything from habitat protection and recycling programs to municipal parks. In his budget proposal earlier this month, Gov. Cuomo proposed maintaining the EPF at $134 million. On Feb. 13, NYLCV will join a large coalition of organizations for EPF Lobby Day at the state Capitol. During that day, our team will fan out to legislative offices, to talk up the EPF and demonstrate the depth of support for the environment.
If you'd like to join NYLCV for Lobby Day, contact Legislative Director Ricardo Gotla at rgotla@nylcv.org or (212) 361-6350 ext. 207. |
