Jay Walder, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, was the guest speaker at the NYLCV Education Fund's EcoBreakfast on Thursday morning.

MTA President & CEO Jay Walder speaks at NYLCVEF's EcoBreakfast on Thursday.More than 40 leaders in business, government, and the environment were on hand to meet Walder and discuss the MTA, which operates the largest transportation system in the country. 

As Bill Ruskin's blog points out, Walder spoke about making "transformational" change rather than "evolutionary" change at the MTA. He talked about some major milestones he contributed to during his first stint at the agency -- especially the introduction of the MetroCard. Technology is not merely a tool, it is one of the best ways to modernize and revolutionize mass transit in New York, Walder said.
