Westchester Greenway Grows A MileSubmitted by Dan Hendrick on Thu, 2010-08-12 11:38.
As seen in the Journal News, visitors to the RiverWalk, now totaling 32 miles of paved trail along the Hudson River, have a new addition to check out, thanks to a public-private partnership.
Westchester County led the design work, with participation by executives of the Lyndhurst estate. The county also funded Tarrytown's portion of the greenway construction. The village is responsible for ongoing maintenance. The RiverWalk is planned as a 51.5-mile pathway along the Hudson River that links villages, historic sites, parks and river access points. It spans 14 municipalities in Westchester County. Construction began in 2002 in Croton. he next portion to be built is a path between the Glenwood train station to the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail in Yonkers. |
