New Greenway For Suffolk County

Another greenway is in the offing for Long Island, thanks to an agreement between Suffolk County and the Long Island Power Authority

(photo courtesy LIBN)Aided by $2 million in federal dollars, the county and the authority will fashion a hiking and biking trail along LIPA property and the abandoned Long Island Rail Road track from Port Jefferson to Wading River, the Long Island Business News reported.

"Finalizing Rails-to-Trails is a great way to start the new year," Suffolk County Legislator Daniel Losquadro, R-Shoreham, told the newspaper.  "This deal has been a long time coming."
