Two Companies Fight for Control of Cohoes Power Plant

Two companies are battling in the U.S. Court of Appeals for control of a hydroelectric power plant in Cohoes, according to the Troy Record.

The hydroelectric power plant near Cohoes Falls may be changing hands soonThe hydroelectric power plant near Cohoes Falls may be changing hands soonWith the support of environmental organizations like Scenic Hudson, Green Island Power Authority hopes to take over the 38-megawatt plant from Brookfield Renewable Power and replace it with a more environmentally responsible 100-megawatt facility.

Along with local residents and officials, environmental groups like Scenic Hudson say the current power plant is inefficient and kills an "unacceptably high" amount of fish.
