State Reinforces Warnings About Hudson River Fish

Although the Hudson River looks a lot cleaner, there are still contaminants in the water that can be harmful to public health.

Many residents are unaware of the possible dangers of consuming Hudson River fish.Many residents are unaware of the possible dangers of consuming Hudson River fish.That's the message that the state Department of Health wants to telegraph at a series of public outreach meetings this month in communities along the river.

According to the Daily Gazette, the main concern is to ensure do not or limit their intake of fish caught in the river. Contaminants like toxic polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) move through the food chain and accumulate in many species of Hudson River fish.
