A controversial proposal to build a transmission line that stretches from Oneida County to Orange County will get a full set of public hearings over the next several weeks. Last year, the Bush administration declared NYRI a national interest electric transmission corridor.The New York State Public Service Commission announced it will hold information forums, followed by public statement hearings, in October and November, on the proposal by New York Regional Interconnect Inc. to build a high-voltage, direct current transmission line that would run about 190 miles from the National Grid's substation in Marcy to the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. substation in New Windsor.Webcasts of the public testimony hearings will be available on line at http://www.NewYorkAdmin.com, by clicking on "New York State Public Service Commission." The hearings will be held at Colgate University in Hamilton, Monday, Oct. 20; Foot Hills Performing Arts Center, in Oneonta, Tuesday, Oct. 21; Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, Wednesday, Oct. 22; Kuhl's Highland House in Middletown, Tuesday, Oct. 28; Delaware Community Center, Callicoon, Wednesday, Oct. 29.
