Flood Study To Be Conducted In Mamaroneck

Submitted by Ben Van Buren on Fri, 2008-06-27 15:38.

Action is being taken to reduce the damage caused by flooding of the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake rivers, especially in the Village of Mamaroneck, in Westchester County. State and local authorities have initiated a study of the rivers in response to the heavy flooding of 2007, which had severe environmental and economic impacts on the area.

Specialists will examine the rivers and propose ways in which to prevent flood damage in the future. The study will cost $6.5 million take two and a half years to complete.

Many levels of government worked together in the organization of this project, and it is generally seen as a timely, since flooding has become increasingly severe in recent years.
