A house party on Sunday kicked off NYLCV's Queens effort to recruit and mobilize 100,000 New York City Eco-Voters by 2009. Dozens turned out for the event, hosted by Dan Hendrick and Jimmy Van Bramer, to meet special guest and NYLCV board member Theodore Roosevelt V.

Ted, who is continuing his family's historic legacy of environmental advocacy, spoke about the interconnections between economic growth and environmental protection, and how NYLCV's task is to make sustainability a stronger voting issue. That is particularly the case in 2009, when most of New York City's elected leadership will change because of term limits.

The event was attended by a wide range of community leaders, transportation and environmental advocates, local residents and elected officials, including Councilmembers Eric Gioia and Hiram Monserrate.
