Schenectady County Plans to Improve Energy StandardsSubmitted by Daniel Minaya on Wed, 2008-03-19 15:19.
"Schenectady County's initiatives represent the best of both worlds -- they will help fight climate change and save taxpayers' money through greater energy efficiency," said Marcia Bystryn, Executive Director of the New York League of Conservation Voters. "We applaud the Legislature for its commitment to combat global warming on the local level and we look forward to making this bold plan a reality." The County would also support New York State's 15 by 15 plan, a statewide collaborate effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by the year 2015. One of the more significant details of the County's plan is its association with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) with regards to its public relations campaign to inform Schenectady County residents of ways to improve their homes' energy efficiency. Schenectady County will also work with NYSERDA to reduce its transportation fleet's carbon emissions.
