The Rensselaer County Legislature has breathed new life into the Environmental Management Council, approving 15 new members to the volunteer body. According to the Albany Times Union, the EMC will advise the Legislature on environmental matters, and serve as a sounding board for new proposals and technologies. Legislature Chairman Neil J. Kelleher, R-Troy, said the EMC has been instrumental in the establishment of several important environmental projects, including the founding of the Papscanee Island Nature Preserve, the Adopt-A-Highway program and county recycling.
