Connecticut Seeks To Sway New York On Broadwater

Submitted by Jarrel Doorn on Tue, 2008-02-12 18:00.

Connecticut is working on persuading New York officials to deny permits for a liquefied natural gas terminal planned for Long Island Sound.

According to the Daily News Connecticut is pursuing everything from personal phone calls to Gov. Spitzer to submitting testimony to agencies, asserting that there are more environmentally sensitive and safe alternatives to the Broadwater Energy project.

According to Connecticut's Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, if New York grants any approvals, then Connecticut will appeal them. New York's Department of State has postponed a decision on the terminal's environmental safety for two months.
