Orangeburg Is Turning Green!Submitted by Michelle Subbiondo on Thu, 2008-02-07 16:08.
Orangeburg is jumping on board with several other New York communities who have begun to take decisive action on climate change. The Town Board is forming a new environmental committee that will explore ways the town can increase energy efficiency, conserve open space and reduce carbon emissions. According to LoHud.com, the committee will merge members of the town's Open Space Committee with community members who have expertise or interest in environmental issues. The committee will also review ways it can implement recommendations of the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement including clean alternative energy, promoting public transportation and increasing recycling.
