According to the Buffalo News, the criticism surfaced at a Common Council meeting, where legislators voted to extend a joint recycling program with Erie County. While inking the extension, lawmakers said they expect better results by the end of the year. The city's recycling rate reached a peak of 14 percent in the mid-1990s. Comparable cities recycle at least one-third of their waste, experts say. |
