According to the Journal News, the plan is expected to cost $2.3 billion, and will have 210,000 square feet of retail space and 213,500 square feet of office space. The current proposal specifically eliminates big-box stores, and calls for marinas and kayak launches. The design includes a lot of parking: 6,800 spaces, mostly in garages, and 480 spaces of on-street parking.

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone told the Journal News that "we've talked about redeveloping our old industrial downtown and waterfront for a generation, maybe more. This is the first real step toward actually doing that."

Some residents and groups including Scenic Hudson have raised concerns about the height of waterfront developments, saying they will block river views.

Thursday night's meeting started a 60-day period for the public to offer its feedback on the master plan and its environmental impact statement.
