State Seals Deal To Protect Part Of Adirondacks

Submitted by Sabrina Must on Wed, 2007-08-01 10:45.
A new deal was settled July 31 to limit most development on 51,590 acres of timberland in the northwest corner of the Adirondacks.

The New York Times reports that the plan, costing the state $6.6 million, will allow Rayonier Inc., a forestry company, to continue to cut timber from forests in the St. Lawrence County towns of Colton, Clifton and Clare. This will also open up the land for recreational activities.
