Big Apple To Double Amount Of Bike LanesSubmitted by Josh Abram on Mon, 2007-07-23 11:18.
With more New Yorkers pedaling to work, the city's Department of Transportation plans to double its bike lanes. Currently, there are 200 miles of lanes reserved for the two-wheelers, and the city will add 200 more. Despite community objections, the lanes are planned for the Lower and Upper East Sides. This is part of PlaNYC's push to complete the city's Bike Master Plan. Read more about the biking initiative here.
