Bacteria Plague Park Near Buffalo

Submitted by Sabrina Gusmorino on Tue, 2007-07-17 11:50.

Darien Lake State Park has closed its beach four times this summer due to high bacteria levels.

According to the Buffalo Times, park manager Richard Parker believes the increased number of geese in the area caused the bacteria surge. He said park officials are attempting to limit geese access to the beach through fences and buoys.

Parker told the Buffalo News that the water samples met Health Department standards Monday, so the beach is again open today.
