GE Plans to Clean Up Hudson River Banks

Submitted by Sabrina Must on Thu, 2007-07-12 10:19.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and General Electric reached an agreement Wednesday to cover contaminated soil with topsoil over approximately a dozen spots along the Hudson River in Fort Edward, Northumberland, Greenwich and Schuylerville.

The Times Union reported that GE has agreed to monitor and maintain the areas in which have elevated levels of PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls. The work is estimated to cost about $1 million and begin in August.
