Don't Let Bus-Idling Bill Stall OutSubmitted by Josh Abram on Mon, 2007-07-02 10:58.
While congestion pricing certainly will help New York's asthmatic children, Assemblyman Peter Rivera has another tactic: limit school bus idling. School buses are generally run on diesel fuel, which despite its improved gas mileage is known to aggravate lung problems and is linked to asthma attacks and breathing problems in children. The bill passed the Legislature at the end of the session last month, and now awaits Gov. Eliot Spitzer's signature. Read the bill here or a news article about it here. |
