Brooklyn Waterfront EndangeredSubmitted by Sabrina Gusmorino on Thu, 2007-06-14 11:18.
When you think of things put on an endangered list, often images of bald eagles or panda bears come to mind. Well that's not what The National Trust for Historic Preservation had in mind when they placed the industrial waterfront of Brooklyn on its list of 11 most endangered historic places yesterday. They claim that residential development is threatening to devour the Waterfront. According to Newsday, Richard Moe, President of The National Trust for Historic Preservation said, "These buildings represent Brooklyn's industrial heritage, and they shouldn't be lost for this reason." All hope is not lost. The National Trust for Historic Preservation suggests that city planners and developers try to adapt the warehouses to residential lofts similar to the ones in SoHo.
