PlaNYC Stumbles in Assembly

Submitted by Josh Abram on Tue, 2007-06-12 10:56.

After overcoming a series of political hurdles in the past few days, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's congestion pricing proposal hit a legislative bump.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver publicly doubted some of Bloomberg's assertions on the impact of a cornerstone in his proposal to reduce traffic. In fact, Silver doubted that the proposal would curb asthma rates, as Bloomberg had touted.

The American Lung Association is one of many agencies to endorse the plan, which has already been successfully implemented in London.
