It's hard to remember that a nor'easter hit last month when it's sunny and in the 80s outside like it is today. But those in Westchester are still feeling the chill from April's storm. Westchester received $20 million in federal aid for flood mitigation (with many thanks to US Representative Nita Lowey). $8.17 million is set aside for 12 Hudson Valley counties and $11.2 million will go to New York and New Jersey counties that also suffered damage from the April 15 nor'easter. Besides throwing money at the problem after the fact, officials are working with the Army Corps of Engineers to look for long term and short term solutions to prevent future flooding. In fact, there is a summit scheduled on June 20 to address these issues at the Westchester County Center. Read the full article in The Journal News HERE.
