Even though Indian Point is getting a lot of flack for missing deadlines, at least veteran actor, restaurateur and organic-food producer, Paul Newman praised the plant on his recent tour on Wednesday. He said that Indian Point is an important source of electricity for millions of New Yorkers today. Because it doesn't produce any emissions that cause global warming, Indian Point will be even more important in the future. Newman, who lives 40 miles away in Westport, Conn. was impressed with the safety measures in place at Indian Point - a key worry point for local residents, some of whom want the plant, 35 miles north of midtown Manhattan, shut down as a potential target of terrorism.
