CPF on the Ballot in Brookhaven

The battle between developers and conservationists in Brookhaven has come to a halt this week when the town board approved a Community Preservation Fund (CPF) proposal to be on the ballot this November.

If the initiative passes 5,000 acres of land will be preserved and an estimated $600 million will be generated for the county.

The initiative includes a 25 percent real estate transfer tax for builders.  Builders could buy the rights on property to yield on what they build some place else.
