A Bright Idea?Submitted by Stacy Feldman on Thu, 2007-03-29 11:15.
Westchester Board of Legislators Majority Leader Martin Rogowski (D-Harrison) has come up with a strong climate change cure: ban the sale of traditional incandescent light bulbs in Westchester County by 2009. He wants CFLs (compact fluorescent lightbulbs) only. Great idea in theory, but prohibitions in this country don't have a great success rate. Thankfully, there are some other great ideas in the works in Westchester from County Exec Spano's global warming task forcce, like cross-industry reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The CFL proposal has been referred to the board's environment and legislation committees for consideration.
