Pete's Draggin'

Submitted by Stacy Feldman on Tue, 2007-03-27 17:43.

Yes, Pete Grannis passed the Senate EnCon hurdle this afternoon. He got enough "yes" votes to move him along to the Senate Finance Committee, who we (and everyone else) thought would take up his cause today. Sadly, we were wrong.

According to Capitol Confidential, the Senate Finance folks don't see Grannis as a top priority because they're entrenched in budget dealings. What does that mean for Grannis? Capitol Confidential predicts that the whole thing may be pushed off 'til after a budget deal is done. (We predicted this too, unfortunately, ages ago.)

Oh, the politicking (courtesy of Liz Benjamin, again): "A Senate GOP source said the vote on Grannis was a good faith gesture to demonstrate the majority’s willingness to cooperate with the executive. But it by no means indicates it will be smooth sailing from here on out for Grannis."

Capitol Confidential also has a breakdown of EnCon's secret (now out of the bag) vote from this afternoon.
