Grannis Gets DEC Hearing, Finally

Submitted by Stacy Feldman on Wed, 2007-03-14 13:05.

In Hearing Room A in the Legislative Office Building in Albany at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 20, Pete Grannis will have his day in the sun, finally. He's scheduled for a hearing before the Senate EnCon Committee on his nomination to be the new DEC commissioner.

It's a big room for a hearing. According to Capitol Confidential, Senator Carl Marcellino, the chair of the Senate EnCon Committee, expects a large crowd.

And that's a given. The Grannis nomination has been politically charged for weeks now, with gun advocates lobbying hard against Grannis for his alleged anti-hunting record.

We're on the side of Grannis, and wish him luck in the first step of what could be a long and heated hearing process...
