NYRI Writes to Clinton-Schumer

Submitted by Stacy Feldman on Wed, 2007-03-07 11:06.

New York Regional Interconnect Inc (NYRI) is facing some tough opposition for its proposed plan to build a 200-mile transmission line from Utica to the lower Hudson Valley. But it is not backing down. Here are the letters NYRI sent to Senators Clinton and Schumer.

The letters argue that the transmission line is an environmentally responsible way to solve New York's looming energy crisis. Upstate residents, and the pols that represent them, strongly disagree. They argue that the line will mar the landscape where they live while delivering downstate residents a crux of the benefits.

And the opposition is rallying. Here's a sample from a group called STOP NYRI.
