Will Spitzer back 'Dack plans or "Cow Tower" to pressure?

Submitted by Joshua Klainberg on Tue, 2007-02-27 11:30.

State Senator Betty Little (R-Queensbury) has called on the governor to issue an executive order waiving Adirondack land-use laws to permit three 100-foot towers (aka Cells on Wheels, or COWs) at desolate points along the Northway where several recent tragic accidents have occurred.

Instead of flouting environmental laws, environmental groups have instead offered a ringing endorsement of an inadequately funded 2002 Adirondack Park Agency-approved project that would site 38-foot towers at 32 locations. This plan would provide necessary service while blending into the scenic beauty of the park.

To get the 411, read the full story and read the letter sent by enviros to the governor.
